Excerpt: Lois Maxwell (14 February 1927 29 September 2007 ) was a Canadian actress. Maxwell began her film career in the late 1940s, and won a Golden Globe Award for the New Actress of the Year for her performance in That Hagen Girl (1947). Following a number of small film roles, Maxwell grew dissatisfied and travelled to Italy where she worked in films from 1951 until 1955, and following her marriage, she moved to the United Kingdom where she appeared in several television productions. She originated the role of Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond franchise, playing the character in fourteen films, from Dr. No (1962) until her final performance of the character in A View to a Kill (1985). As Maxwell's career declined, she lived in Canada, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, until she was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2001. She moved to Perth, Western Australia where she lived with her son until her death in 2007, at the age of eighty. Born Lois Ruth Hooker in Kitchener, Ontario to parents who were a nurse and a teacher. She grew up in Toronto and attended Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute. Dissatisfied with the yields of baby sitting jobs, Lois set her sights on something more lucrative and landed her first job working as a waitress at Canada's largest and most luxurious summer resort, Bigwin Inn, on Bigwin Island in Lake of Bays, Ontario, Canada. She ran away from home at the age of fifteen in order to join the Canadian Women's Army Corps during World War II, a unit formed to release men for combat duties. CWAC personnel were secretaries, vehicle drivers, mechanics, and performed all conceivable non-combat duties. Maxwell quickly became part of the Army Show in Canada, and later as part of the Canadian Auxiliary Services Entertainment Unit she was p... More:

Though Sydney is the largest city in Australia, few people know much about it aside from the world-renowned Sydney Opera House and its unmistakable arched roof. This is a shame because Sydney is in fact one of the most important cultural centers on the face of the planet. Loughborough University ranked Sydney as an "alpha+world city", which is a title attributed to only the most influential parts of the world. The Global Cities Index ranked Sydney in the top twenty among the most important cities on Earth. This is a testament to Sydney's multicultural roots: The city has always been a home to various people fleeing to Australia for various reasons. If Sydney's clout on a global sphere is so pronounced, it is little wonder that there is no competition in the continent of Australia to rival the sheer prominence of Sydney. The city is Australia's capital of fashion as well as a leader when matched against the rest of the world. Sydney has hosted both the Summer Olympics (in 2000), as well as the Rugby World Cup (in 2003).
Though some people think Sydney just sprung out of nowhere into an Australian Utopia, the truth is that Sydney has been a force to be reckoned with for quite some time. The city has been a home to more than a million people since the early 1900s and, with a current population of over four million people and counting, there is little reason to doubt that Sydney will only grow in stature and size. The aforementioned Sydney Opera House, immortalized countless times in films like Finding Nemo, is arguably the most popular and well-known of Sydney's many tourist attractions but the fact of the matter is that there is a bevy of landmarks and sites for anybody interested in Sydney. The yearly "Sydney Festival", for instance, is Australia's largest arts and entertainment festival with free music performances that regularly draw huge acts. The Rosemount Australian Fashion Week is one of the largest fashion events on the planet and is a testament to Sydney's enormous influence on the fashion world. Nearly every international designer has a headquarters in Sydney and the central business district boasts many renowned shopping locations like the Pedestrian Mall and the Queen Victoria building which house many upscale boutiques.
With such prestige attached to its name, it is little wonder that Sydney is a particularly expensive city to live in. In a worldwide survey conducted by "The Economist", Sydney ranked number sixteen in the most expensive cities in the world. Not surprisingly, the citizens who call Sydney home are adequately wealthy, with a separate survey ranking Sydney as the fifteenth richest city in the world. This glamorous side of Sydney is a hard blow to anybody who wants to live there and can't afford it, but it does make Sydney the ideal destination for someone looking to vacation in style. This paradise amid the Outback, which was the first British settlement in Australia, has attracted people for time immemorial because of the immense natural beauty that Sydney has to offer coupled with the man-made works of art that have cemented Sydney into the international sector with poise and grace.

Amin joined an Islamic school at Bombo in 1941. After a few years left school and had jobs before being recruited to the army for British colonial army officer.

Amin joined the King's African Rifles (KAR) from the British colonial army in 1946 as an assistant cook. He said he was forced to enlist in the army during the Second World War and served in the Burma Campaign, but records indicate he was the first enlisted after the war ended. He was transferred to Kenya for service as an infantry soldier in 1947 and served in the infantry battalion KAR 21 in Gilgil, Kenya, until 1949. That year, his unit was deployed to Somalia to fight Somali rebels Shifta. In 1952, his brigade was deployed against the Mau Mau rebels in Kenya. He was promoted to corporal the same year, then to sergeant in 1953.
In 1954 Amin was Effendi (NCO), the highest rank possible for a Black African in the British colonial army at the time. Amin returned to Uganda, the same year and in 1961 was promoted to lieutenant, becoming one of the first two Ugandans to become officers and NCOs. Then assigned to quell the cattle rustling between Uganda's Karamojong and Turkana nomads of Kenya. In 1962 he was promoted to captain and then, in 1963, large. The following year was appointed Deputy Commander of the Army.
Amin was an active athlete during his time in the army. 193 cm (6 feet 4 inches) and strong, he was the champion of Uganda light heavyweight boxing from 1951 to 1960, and a swimmer. Idi Amin was also a formidable rugby forward. In the 1950's, played on the Nile RFC. The British Lions played almost Amin in the 1955 tour of South Africa, when he was selected as a reserve for the East African XV. He was the only black player on the team. Amin, however, get carried out during the game, and after the game, sat outside the house club drinking a Coca Cola until one of the opposition suggested he should be left in.One official said of him: "Idi Amin is a splendid type and a good player (Rugby), but virtually bone from the neck up, and needs things explained in words of one letter. "
Army Commander
In 1965 Prime Minister Milton Obote and Amin were implicated in a smuggling ivory and gold into Uganda from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The agreement, as later alleged by General Nicholas Olenga, an associate of former Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba, was part of an agreement to help the troops against the government's trade Congolese ivory and gold for arms supplies smuggled to them by Amin. In 1966, Parliament demanded an investigation. Obote imposed a new constitution abolishing of the ceremonial presidency in the hands of the Kabaka (King) Edward Mutesa II of Buganda, and declared himself president. Amin promoted to colonel and army commander. Amin directed to attack the Kabaka's palace and forced Mutesa in exile in the UK, where he remained until his death in 1969.
Amin began recruiting members Kakwa, Lugbara, Nubia and other ethnic groups of West Nile area bordering Sudan. The Nubians had been living in Uganda since the early 20, from Sudan to serve the colonial army. In Uganda, the Nubians were commonly perceived as foreigners from Sudan and erroneously called Anyanya (Anyanya were Southern Sudanese rebels of the Sudanese Civil War and not participating in Uganda). Because many ethnic groups in northern Uganda live in both Uganda and Sudan persistent reports that Amin's army consisted substantially of Sudanese troops.
Takeover
Finally, a gap between developed Amin and Obote, Amin aggravated by the support he had built within the army by recruiting West Nile region, its participation in operations supporting the rebellion in southern Sudan, and the attempt on Obote's life in 1969. In October 1970, Obote took control of the armed forces, reducing its Amin months as commander of all armed forces of army chief.
Hearing that Obote was intended to arrest him for embezzlement funds from the army, Amin seized power in a military coup on January 25, 1971, while Obote was attending a Commonwealth summit meeting in Singapore. Troops loyal Amin sealed Entebbe International Airport, the main artery in Uganda, and took Kampala. The soldiers surrounded the residence of Obote and blocked the main roads. A broadcast Radio Uganda Obote accused the government of corruption and preferential treatment of the Lango region. cheering crowds were reported in the streets of Kampala after radio emission. Amin announced that he was a soldier, not a politician, and that the military government would remain only as a caretaker regime until new elections to be announced when the situation was normalized. He pledged to release all political prisoners.
Amin was well received both in Uganda [Citation needed] and the [citation needed] of the international community. He gave former king and the president Mutesa (who had died in exile) a state funeral in April 1971 freed many political prisoners and reiterated its promise to hold free and fair elections to return the country to democratic rule as soon as possible.

Establishment of military government
On February 2, 1971, a week after the coup, Amin declared himself president of Uganda, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Chief of Staff and Chief of Air Staff. Announced was suspending certain provisions of the Constitution of Uganda and soon established an Advisory Council composed of military officers, Defense, with himself as president. Amin placed military tribunals on the system of civil law, appointed soldiers to top government posts and parastatal agencies, and reported to Ministers newly installed civilian cabinet that would be subject to military discipline. Amin changed the name of the president is staying at Government House in Kampala to "The command post." Dissolved the General Service Unit (GSU), an intelligence agency created by the previous government and replaced by the State Research Bureau (SRB). the SRB headquarters at the Kampala suburb of Nakasero became the scene of torture and executions over the next few years. Other agencies use to end dissent political and military police and Public Security Unit (PSU).
Obote fled to Tanzania, having been offered refuge there by Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere. He was soon joined by 20,000 refugees fleeing Amin's Uganda. In 1972, the exiles tried to regain the country through a poorly organized coup attempt, without success.
The persecution of ethnic and other
Amin retaliated against the attempted invasion exile in Uganda in 1972 by purging the army of Obote supporters, especially those of the Acholi and Lango ethnic groups. In July 1971, Lango and Acholi soldiers were massacred in the Jinja and Mbarara Barracks since early 1972, some 5,000 soldiers Acholi and Lango, and at least twice as many civilians, had disappeared. Victims suddenly came to include members of other ethnic groups, religious leaders, journalists, senior bureaucrats, judges, lawyers, students and intellectuals, suspected criminals, and foreigners. In this atmosphere of violence, many others were killed by criminal motives or simply at will.
Murders, motivated by ethnic, political and financial, continued during the reign of eight years of Amin. The exact number of people killed is unknown. The Commission ICJ considers that the number of dead at no less than 80,000 and more likely around 300,000. An estimate compiled by exile organizations to help Amnesty International puts the number of dead at 500,000. Among the most prominent people were killed Benedicto Kiwanuka, former prime minister and later president Supreme Court, Janani Luwum, the Anglican archbishop, Joseph Mubiru, former Central Bank governor, Kalimuzo Frank, the vice chancellor of Makerere University, Byron Kawadwa, a leading playwright, and two of Amin's own cabinet ministers, and Charles Wilson Oryema Erinayo Ofumbi Obot.
In August 1972, Amin declared what it called a "Economic war", a set of policies that included the expropriation of properties owned by Asians and Europeans. 80,000 in Uganda were Most of the Indian subcontinent Asians born in the country, their ancestors to come to Uganda when the country was still a British colony. Many companies property, including large companies, which formed the backbone of the economy of Uganda. On August 4, 1972, Amin issued a decree ordering the expulsion of 60,000 Asians who were not Ugandan citizens (most of them held British passports). This was subsequently amended to include all 80,000 Asians, except for professionals such as doctors, lawyers and teachers. A plurality of the Asians with British passports, around 30,000, he emigrated to Britain. Others went to Australia, Canada, India, Pakistan, Sweden and USA Amin expropriated businesses and properties owned by Asians and delivered to his followers. Business was badly managed, and industries collapsed for lack of maintenance. This proved disastrous for the already declining economy.
In 1977, Henry Kyemba, Amin health minister and a former official of the first Obote regime, defected and resettled in Britain. Kyemba wrote and published A State Blood, Expos insider first rule of Amin.

After the expulsion of Asians from Uganda in 1972, most of whom were of Indian descent, India broke off diplomatic relations Uganda. The same year, as part of its "economic war", Amin broke diplomatic ties with Britain and nationalized 85 companies owned British.
That year, relations with Israel soured. Although Uganda Israel had previously supplied with arms, in 1972, Amin expelled Israel and military advisers returned to Muammar al-Gaddafi of Libya and the Soviet Union for support. Amin became an outspoken critic of Israel. In the documentary General Idi Amin Dada: A Self Portrait, who spoke of their war plans against Israel, with paratroopers, terrorists and suicide squads. Amin later stated that Hitler "had right to burn six million Jews. "
In 1973, the U.S. ambassador Thomas Patrick Melady recommends that the United States reduce its presence in Uganda. Melady Amin described the regime as "racist, erratic and unpredictable," Brutal, inept, bellicose, irrational and ridiculous, and militaristic. Consequently, United States closed its embassy in Kampala.
In June 1976, Amin allowed an Air France plane hijacked by two members of the Popular Front for the Liberation Palestine - External Operations (PFLP-EO) and two members of the German Zellen Revolutionre to land at Entebbe airport. There, the hijackers were joined by three more. Shortly after, 156 hostages who have no Israeli passports were released and taken to safety, while 83 Jews and Israeli citizens as well as 20 other who refused to leave (among whom were the captain and crew of the hijacked Air France plane), it remains hostage. In the rescue operation Israel later, code-named Operation Lightning (popularly known as Operation Entebbe), almost all the hostages were released. Three hostages were killed and 10 were injured, six hijackers, 45 Ugandan soldiers and one Israeli soldier, Yoni Netanyahu, were killed. This incident further soured international relations Uganda, the UK's leading to close its High Commissioner in Uganda.
Uganda, Amin embarked on a major military power, which generated concerns in Kenya. In early June 1975, Kenyan officials impounded a large convoy of Soviet-made arms en route to Uganda at the port of Mombasa. Tension between Uganda and Kenya, reached its climax in February 1976 when Amin announced that he would investigate the possibility that parts of southern Sudan and western and central Kenya, to within 32 kilometers (20 miles) from Nairobi, were historically a part of the colonial era in Uganda. The Kenyan Government responded with a stern statement Kenya is not part of "a single inch of territory." Amin backed down after the Kenyan army deployed troops and armored vehicles along the border between Kenya and Uganda.
Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi backed Amin and Soviet Union became the largest arms supplier Amin.
East Germany participated in the General Service Unit and the State Bureau of Investigation, the two agencies that were most notorious terror. During the invasion of Tanzania in 1979, East Germany attempt to eliminate evidence of their involvement.
Irregular media and image

Over time, Amin became more irregular and open. In 1977, after Britain had broken diplomatic relations with his regime, Amin declared he had defeated the British, and gave himself decoration of CBE (Conqueror of the British Empire). Radio Uganda then read out all their new title "His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor [B] Idi Amin Dada, VC [C] DSO, MC, CBE. "In 1971, Amin and Zaire's President Mobutu Sese Seko changed the names of Lake Albert and Lake Mobutu Sese Seko Lake Edward and Lake Idi Amin Dada, respectively.
Amin became the subject of rumors and myths, including a widespread belief that he was a cannibal. Some of the unsubstantiated rumors, such as mutilation of one of his wives, extended and popularized by the 1980 film Rise and Fall of Idi Amin and referred to in the film The Last King of Scotland in 2006.
During the reign of Amin, the popular media outside Uganda, often presented as a figure essentially Funny. In a 1977 assessment typical of the time, a Time magazine article described him as a "murderer buffoon and clown, big-hearted and Martinet vain. By focusing on Amin excessive self-aggrandizement tastes and eccentricities outside the media was often criticized for downplaying or excuse criminal behavior. Some commentators even suggested that Amin had deliberately cultivated his reputation in the foreign media as a Fool easy parody to calm international concern about the government of Uganda.

By 1978, the number of Amin's close associates had shrunk significantly, and faced growing dissent from Uganda. After the assassinations of ministers and Oryema Luwum and Obot Ofumbi in 1977, several of Amin's ministers defected or fled into exile. Later that year, after President Amin Vice President, General Mustafa Adrisi, was injured in a car accident, troops loyal to him mutinied. Amin sent troops against the mutineers, some of who had fled across the border with Tanzania. Amin accused the president of Tanzania Julius Nyerere of waging war against Uganda, ordered the invasion of Tanzania territory and formally annexed a section of the Kagera region across the border.
Nyerere mobilized the Tanzania People's Defence Force and counterattacked, accompanied by several groups of Ugandan exiles who had united as the National Liberation Army of Uganda (UNLA). Amin army retreated steadily, and despite military assistance from Muammar al-Gaddafi of Libya, was forced to flee the April 11, 1979, when he was captured Kampala. He fled first to Libya and eventually settled in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi royal family paid a generous salary in exchange for staying out of politics. Amin remained for several years in the top two floors Novotel Hotel in Jeddah Palestine Road. Having covered the war for BBC chief correspondent in Africa, in 1980, Brian Barron, in collaboration with cameraman Mohammed Amin of Visnews in Nairobi, which is Amin and secured the first interview with him from his statement.
Amin held that Uganda needed him and never expressed remorse for the nature of his regime. In 1989, he tried to return to Uganda, apparently, to lead an armed group organized by Colonel Juma Oris. Came Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), formerly Zaire Mobutu forced him to return to Saudi Arabia.
Amin's death
On July 20, 2003, one of Amin's wives, Madina, said he was in a coma and near death at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. "Amin died in Saudi Arabia on August 16, 2003. He was buried in the cemetery at Ruwais in Jeddah.

The film took four years to make. Ben Gunsberg, Lighting Supervisor and VFX Supervisor of the Department, said this was partly by the need to build new infrastructure and tools. An earlier cut of the film seems to have included a major subplot about foreigners in the sense alien, whose presence became progressively more and more known all over, and planned to siphon the resources of the planet little by little, putting humans in same light as the penguins. In the end, through the plight of the protagonist, his hand was, and instead, the first contact is made. This was chopped during the last year of production, and has not seen daylight in a finished form, although the concept of art of these sequences are shown in the Siggraph 2007 show, and are available online, too. Music Main article: Happy Feet (soundtracks) Happy Feet is a musical, taking previously recorded songs and work on them in the soundtrack of the movie to fit the atmosphere of the scene or character. Two soundtrack albums were released from the film, one of the songs in it and inspired by the movie, and the instrumental score another with John Powell. Environmental Message As things progress more and more emphasis on environmental issues in Antarctica. The outcome of the film shows a group of researchers to take video of the emperor penguin colony of dance and images are broadcast globally. After many heated discussions this publicity generated considerable pressure to stop commercial overfishing of the Antarctic. According to the director, George Miller, the environmental message was not an important part of the original script but "In Australia, we are very, very conscious of the ozone hole," he said, "and Antarctica is literally the canary in the coal mine for these things. Therefore, some sort of had to go in that direction. "This influence led to a film with an environmental tone. Miller said:" No can tell a story about Antarctica and the penguins without giving that dimension. " References ^ "Happy Feet: The IMAX Experience." "After 'The Others'," Quentin Tarantino says, "this is my favorite Nicole Kidman performance!" The future Academy Award(R) winner made her movie debut at 16 years old as the pouffy-haired star of this action/comedy about a cache of stolen walkie-talkies, three BMX-riding friends, and the ruthless bank robbers who will pursue them through every graveyard, shopping mall, construction site and waterpark in New South Wales, Australia. It's a high-flying ride to adventure filled with wild stunts, cool BMX outfits, creepy innuendo, cheezy synth music, an obnoxious fat kid, and gobs of fast and furious fun. John Ley ("Mad Max"), David Argue ("Razorback") and Bryan Marshall ("The Long Good Friday") co-star - with thrilling cinematography from future Oscar(R) winner John Seale ("The English Patient") - in this Down Under '80s cult classic from 'Ozsploitation' master Brian Trenchard-Smith, the legendary director of "Turkey Shoot, "Dead End Drive-In" and "Stunt Rock". Audio Commentary, Featurettes, Theatrical Trailer. "BMX Buddies"; Nicole Kidman on "Young Talent Time".
Los Angeles Arts and Crafts in popularity around the world
Los Angeles is the most important town in the U.S. for the film and production television arts and crafts. The area has long been a mecca for actors, writers, composers, artists and other creative types.
The area is home to many institutes that study and appreciate film production, such as the Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Film Institute. Several awards are given annually by the film and television production, attracting more audiences worldwide.
While film production in Los Angeles continues being the most important center for the media, Hollywood has become more international, and faces growing competition from other cities in America and parts of Canada Vancouver and Toronto. Countries that can offer much cheaper production costs, such as Romania and Australia are also competitive with Hollywood.
The film industry and television have helped to create the image that denotes Los Angeles throughout the world. Millions of tourists travel to see Hollywood and related sites of interest like the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Los Angeles is also one of the world's most important sites for the recording industry. An example is the famous Capitol Records building, resembling a stack of records. The Warner Brothers and a major recording business in addition to its film business.
Ethnically, Los Angeles had a vibrant African-American musical community even when it was relatively small. A number of musical artists rallied around Central Avenue, including large musicians like Charles Mingus and Gerald Wilson.
Looking ahead to the end of the 1990s metal band Linkin Park was formed in Agoura, CA, and was appointed to the Lincoln Park in Santa Monica, near his recording studio. Although Los Angeles has produced not many acts of international success in the 2000s, the city retains its importance as a center of rock music, rap, and the music industry in general.
The demands of thousands of hours of score bands sound for television and film work also gives composers and classically trained musicians, orchestras and symphonies.

Excerpt: "The Climb" is a song performed by American recording artist and actress Miley Cyrus, for the 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie. The song was written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe, and produced by John Shanks. It was released on March 5, 2009, as the lead single of the film's soundtrack by Walt Disney Records. The song is a power ballad with lyrics that describe life as a difficult but rewarding journey. It is styled as a country pop ballad, and was Cyrus' first solo song to be released to country radio. The instrumentation includes piano, guitar and violins. "The Climb" was generally well received by critics and was nominated for the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media at the 52nd Grammy Awards. However, the song was withdrawn from consideration by Walt Disney Records because it had not been written specifically for a movie as the category's eligibility rules required. The song achieved worldwide success and became a Top 10 hit on charts in Australia, Canada, Norway and the United States. In the United States, the song peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the eighth best selling digital single of 2009. Five months after its release, the single was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song's accompanying music video was directed by Matthew Rolston, and depicts scenes of Cyrus climbing a mountain or singing, intercut with clips of Hannah Montana: The Movie. Cyrus promoted the song with several live performances. The first, at the Kids Inaugural: "We Are the Future" event on January 19, 2009, was the first time the song had ever been publicly heard. Cyrus also performed the song as the closing number of her Wonder World Tour. "The C... More:
