Trying To Work Out How Much Spending Money I'll Need... (Details Inside)... Please Help!?

In December of 2009 or January of 2010, I'm planning on moving to England or America for around 13 months to work as an au pair/nanny. I'm doing it with a program, and with all included... which is flights, accommodation and food with the family as I'll be a live in, a five day introductory course with other au pairs/nannies etc etc. The total cost is about $1800 (Australian dollars).
While over there, as I'll be working I'll earn in England between 100 and 200 a week (English money) and in America it'll be between 180 and 280 (American dollars)... which I know isn't a lot, but it's something.
I'll get paid vacation, so I'll need money for that, and I get a month at the end of the 12 months to travel too. Along with just spending money for every day things like going out, buying gifts etc.
How much money should I take, keeping in mind that the currency between Australia and England/America will change.
If you need more details, let me know.
And also, I'll be 18 when I go. :)

My suggestion is that you should not necessarily bring a large amount of cash with you, but rather get a bank account with a bank in Australia that is part of the Global ATM Alliance...I believe it is Westpac. You could then have people from home put in money as needed, then you can take out from a money machine in the U.S. (Bank of America) and England (Barclays) without charge.

Excerpt: Out Now Consulting is a marketing agency that provides specialised gay marketing services to large companies by researching gay lifestyles and using the information to develop strategies to target gay and lesbian consumers. Although Out Now is a Dutch company, its origins lie in the formation of an Australian company, Significant Others, which after its establishment in 1992 became known in Australian media over subsequent years for its work as a specialist gay marketing agency. Significant Others presented the Keynote address at the world's first gay marketing conference in 1994. Following the establishment of an office in Amsterdam, Out Now became the first business of its kind with agencies in more than one country. Activities are now undertaken in the US, UK, Germany, Belgium, France, Ireland and The Netherlands markets. Excerpt: The Black Saturday bushfires were a series of bushfires that ignited or were burning across the Australian state of Victoria on and around Saturday 7 February 2009 during extreme bushfire-weather conditions, resulting in Australia's highest ever loss of life from a bushfire. 173 people died as a result of the fires and 414 were injured. As many as 400 individual fires were recorded on 7 February. Following the events of 7 February 2009, that date has since been referred to as Black Saturday. Major bushfires in Victoria in the 2000s, showing the Black Saturday fires in red The majority of the fires ignited and spread on a day of some of the worst bushfire-weather conditions ever recorded. Temperatures in the mid to high 40s (°C, approx. 110120°F) and wind speeds in excess of 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph), precipitated by an intense heat wave, fanned the fires over large distances and areas, creating several large firestorms and pyrocumulus systems, particularly north-east of Melbourne, where a single firestorm accounted for 120 of the 173 deaths. A cool change hit the state in the early evening, bringing with it gale-force so... More:

Chapters: Digital Radio in Australia, Timeline of Australian Radio, Subsidiary Communications Authority, Air News, Pirate Radio in Australasia, Donovan Joyce, Astor Radio Corporation, the Rock Across Australia. Excerpt: Digital radio in Australia uses the DAB+ standard and is currently available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. The national government owned networks, the ABC and SBS, provide their current services and a few digital-only services on the new platform, while the large commercial radio stations in each market, in particular those owned and operated by Austereo and DMG Radio Australia, have also been given automatic coverage. Australia uses the AAC+ codec provided with upgraded DAB+ standard . Despite testing in Sydney and Melbourne as early as 1999, the first genuine plan for digital radio was released in October 2005, as Helen Coonan, the then Australian Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, announced that Australia would adopt the Eureka 147 system. The Australian Government had set a launch date for digital radio in the six state capital cities, originally 1 January 2009, but this launch date was subsequently shifted back to no later than 1 July 2009 and the list of cities starting digital radio now excludes Hobart. The peak industry body, Commercial Radio Australia, began coordinating the tests as well as organising the commercial multiplexes. The major radio networks commenced a staged roll-out of commercial DAB+ services during May 2009 with Perth launching on 4 May 2009; Melbourne on 11 May 2009; Adelaide on 20 May 2009; Brisbane on 25 May 2009; and Sydney on 30 May 2009 (later delayed to 15 June due to weather conditions and kept on low power until 30 June). Excerpt: The 1938 Kyeema crash occurred on the western face of Mount Corhanwarrabul , just south of Mount Dandenong , Victoria, Australia . On 25 October 1938, eighteen people were killed when the Kyeema, an Australian National Airways DC-2 , VH-UYC crashed. The aircraft was in route to Melbourne from Adelaide . The disaster is blamed on a combination of the presence of a heavy fog and the use of an outdated navigational practice which relied solely on landmarks to determine position. During the ensuing investigation, it was decided that the pilot believed he was descending for a landing at Essendon but was grossly off course causing him to crash into the mountain. While not the first fatal accident in Australian aviation history it was unique because it was the first aircraft in radio communication up to the time of impact. Those killed in the tragedy included a parliamentarian Charles Hawker MHR , a party of barristers and solicitors, a group of wine industry executives, and a young couple on their honeymoon.By Public demand a Royal Commission into the cause of the disaster was established, the Federal Government appointed an Air Accident Investigation Committee under the Chairmanship of Colonel T. Murdoch DSO, VCE with the public equiry commencing on 30 October 1938. Because of the crash, regulations were passed which require Flight Checking Officers to monitor the flights of airplanes and advise on such things as position, weather, and alternate landing options. Dubbo is included in the rainfall records and weather forecast region for the Central West Slopes and in the Central West Slopes and Plains division of the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts. Evidence of habitation by Indigenous Australians dates back approximately 40,000 years. John Oxley was the first European to report on the area now known as Dubbo in 1818. The first permanent settler in the area was Robert Dulhunty, described as one of the wealthiest citizens in the Australian colony at the time. There are records of squatters being given permission to set up large sheep and cattle stations in the area in 1824 but these were not maintained. Dulhunty occupied a property, known as Dubbo station, from the early 1830s on a squatting basis. With the passing of the Squatting Act in 1836 he took out a lic... More:

" After seeing a great deal of very bad land, my brother wished us to locate ourselves on the south side of the Eiver Yarra. This I attempted to do, but was out-bid by the colonial speculators, who merely buy land to re-sell it. Yet so it happened, after these disappointments, that I bought the allotment of ninety- five acres, where I now reside, at the Government sale, June 10th, 1S40. It was said by many to be one of the most lucky purchases of the whole sale. The situation is delicious ; the soil tolerably rich ; the slopes most graceful. The windings of the Yarra in full prospect, both near and far off, are beautiful. Some twenty or thirty bell-birds are ringing a merry peal within hearing. White cockatoos are sitting on the old gum-trees, and parrots are flitting about gorgeously numerous." So I wrote on the 2nd February, 1S41. But previously something had to be done. It was on the 2nd of October, 1S40, that we took possession, and began to reside on our newly-purchased location. At that time Melbourne and the district were at the very acme of their prosperity ; all was activity : all the drays and the workmen were fully employed. A drayman, with a horse and dray, considered it poor work to get only six pounds per week. Our weather-boarded cottage had been prepared by my nephew in Melbourne, ready for putting up on the farm, when we could get it conveyed there. To engage a drayman and dray for that purpose, we had canvassed the town andits suburbs days and days in vain. At length, after a fortnight's incessant search, we found a person from the country willing to cart up the house, four miles, four loads of it, for six pounds: this he did with his dray and oxen in four days. When we reached the location—and

Excerpt: In 2009, a dust storm swept across the Australian states of New South Wales and Queensland from 22 to 24 September. The capital, Canberra , experienced the dust storm on 22 September, and on 23 September the storm reached Sydney and Brisbane .On 23 September, the dust plume measured more than 500 kilometres (310 mi) in width and 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) in length and covered dozens of towns and cities in two states. By 24 September, analysis using MODIS at NASA measured the distance from the northern edge at Cape York to the southern edge of the plume to be 3,450 km. Air particle concentration levels reached 15,400 micrograms per cubic metre of air. Normal days register up to 20 micrograms and bushfires generate 500 micrograms. This concentration of dust broke records in many towns and cities. The CSIRO estimated that the storm carried some 16 million tonnes of dust from the deserts of Central Australia, and during the peak of the storm, the Australian continent was estimated to be losing 75,000 tonnes of dust per hour off the NSW coast north of Sydney. The dust storm coincided with other extreme weather conditions which affected the cities of Adelaide and Melbourne .While the cloud was visible from space , on the ground the intense red-orange colour and drop in temperature drew comparisons with nuclear winter , Armageddon , and the planet Mars . The dust storm was described by the Bureau of Meteorology as a "pretty incredible event" that was the worst in the state of New South Wales in nearly 70 years. The phenomenon was reported around the world. The Weather Channel 's Richard Whitaker said: "This is unprecedented. We are

The season marked the addition of two new teams from Queensland . Gold Coast United and the North Queensland Fury made their A-League debuts at the start of the season. Because of this, Queensland Roar were re-named to Brisbane Roar , as they were no longer the only A-League club from Queensland. With the inception of the two new clubs, many club transfers took place both within Australia and New Zealand, and around the world. The length of the regular season was longer than in previous years, with 27 rounds rather than 21, plus finals. The season began on 6 August, with Melbourne hosting the Central Coast at home. As well as these major changes to the league, the Pre-Season Challenge Cup was no longer held as part of the 2009-10 season due to a busier regular season schedule , and clubs attracting higher profile pre-season friendlies. The Premiership and Championship double was completed by Sydney FC with victory over Melbourne in the final match of the regular season and on penalties in the Championship Grand Final. Out Now's role in the development of gay marketing in various countries has been discussed in the Dutch language edition of 'Principes van Marketing' (Principles of Marketing) - a marketing textbook - by Dr. Philip Kotler. The company works in five areas: market research, advertising, training, PR and strategy development and is cited by mainstream media as an authority on gay consumer issues. Out Now won a Commercial Closet Association 'Images In Advertising' award in New York (June 11, 2007) in the "Outstanding Interactive" campaign category for an online promotion for Lufthansa. The agency has initiated research projects for gay and lesbian media in several countries including Sydney Star Observer, DNA Magazine (Australia), Gay Community News (Ireland), Diva, Gay Times, Bent (magazine) (United Kingdom) and De Gay Krant (Netherlands), such research usually being the first marketing analysis of gay con... The grand exhibitions of the Victorian and Edwardian eras are the lens through which Peter Hoffenberg examines the economic, cultural, and social forces that helped define Britain and the British Empire. He focuses on major exhibitions in England, Australia, and India between the Great Exhibition of 1851 and the Festival of Empire sixty years later, taking special interest in the interactive nature of the exhibition experience, the long-term consequences for the participants and host societies, and the ways in which such popular gatherings revealed dissent as well as celebration.Hoffenberg shows how exhibitions shaped culture and society within and across borders in the transnational working of the British Empire. The exhibitions were central to establishing and developing a participatory imperial world, and each polity in that world provided distinctive information, visitors, and exhibits. Among the displays were commercial goods, working machines, and ethnographic scenes. Exhibits were intended to promote external commonwealth and internal nationalism. The imperial overlay did not erase significant differences but explained and used them in economic and cultural terms. The exhibitions in cities such as London, Sydney, and Calcutta were living and active public inventories of the Empire and its national political communities. The process of building and consuming such inventories persists today in the cultural bureaucracies, museums, and festivals of modern nation-states, the appeal to tradition and social order, and the actions of transnational bodies.
