advance australia fair audio

Not long ago, I was talking to a very nice lady who had been an administrator in a Corporation at one of the local branches. She was upset because new people had come into the company, and they had advanced quickly up through the ranks into upper management, while he was still running the front office. She explained to me that he basically ran the whole company and that other people were making more money than her and actually trying to tell her what to do.

Whenever these other individuals who had advanced past her position got into trouble they always came to her to ask for advice. She thought that was rather hilarious, and she knew she was very much needed in the Corporation, but because she did not have an MBA she was never looked at for upper management, and even though the Corporation generally hired from within, and moved people up through the ranks, she was stuck in a position which paid less, even though she was practically running the whole branch.

She decided to take some ongoing education classes at the local community college and she got her associate degree in business, and was ready to go perhaps get an MBA. Unfortunately, she noticed how much it would cost, and since he is 45 years old, she wondered if you have the student loans paid off by the time she retired in 15 years. The cost of the MBA program when it was all said and done, would be over $40,000. She didn't think that was fair, and she asked if I thought it was worth it.

I told her that some online MBA courses gave credit for experience, but they might make her take a test before they would give them the credit for previous experience. And I told her that some of those online courses could be applied towards for-profit college MBA degrees, or as prerequisite courses to get into the MBA program at the local university. In fact, that might save some additional money, and I let her know that she did the right thing by going to the community college first to get all the lower division classes completed.

She indicated to me that it was quite boring to get all those classes completed, and she explained how many night school classes she went to over the last four years. She wasn't sure she could take another four years or more of going to night school to get her MBA. And she wanted to know if I thought it would be worth it.

That depends, but she would have a higher pay, and a better pension when she was completed for retirement, and that too needs to be taken into consideration. I hope you will please consider this discussion, when you are deciding if you are going to get an MBA so you can advance your company.

What is the best Australian university for sports?

I am thinking of going to university in Australia for an undergraduate degree.
I would like to study physiotherapy or exercise and sport science.

My decision will be a bit based on the sporting outlook and area of the university I decide to apply for.
Which universities are best for sports? (Soccer, Aussie Rules)
I know University of Newcastle has a Gaelic football team are there any other universities like this?
What are the best areas in Australia near a university with professional clubs? (Hyundai A-League, AFL)

Thanks.

University of Wollongong is by far considered one of the best universities to go to purely because of its sports.
Academically, it isn't as renowned or on par with other top universities, but the students choose it for the lifestyle. It's facilities are excellent and abundant, it's close to the beach, the blue mountains....basically every type of sport is accessible if you go there.
However, since you might want to study sport science, because of the no. students who pick UWollongong because of its sports environment, the university is actually well known in that area, and produces some of the best graduates.
University of Newcastle is pretty bogan; but that means yeah, it has quite a few sporty AFL, rugby players.

The season marked the addition of two new teams from Queensland . Gold Coast United and the North Queensland Fury made their A-League debuts at the start of the season. Because of this, Queensland Roar were re-named to Brisbane Roar , as they were no longer the only A-League club from Queensland. With the inception of the two new clubs, many club transfers took place both within Australia and New Zealand, and around the world. The length of the regular season was longer than in previous years, with 27 rounds rather than 21, plus finals. The season began on 6 August, with Melbourne hosting the Central Coast at home. As well as these major changes to the league, the Pre-Season Challenge Cup was no longer held as part of the 2009-10 season due to a busier regular season schedule , and clubs attracting higher profile pre-season friendlies. The Premiership and Championship double was completed by Sydney FC with victory over Melbourne in the final match of the regular season and on penalties in the Championship Grand Final. Avoiding the Summer Drought

Everyone knows that drought is defined as low rainfall. Right? Unfortunately that is a very simplified understanding of drought that many people embrace. Drought is a much more complex condition that is impacted by the behaviours of nature and humans.

The Australian Government sums it up well in its definition of drought. On the government’s website the introduction to a discussion on drought says:

“A drought is a prolonged, abnormally dry period when there is not enough water for users’ normal needs. Drought is not simply low rainfall; if it was, much of inland Australia would be in almost perpetual drought. Because people use water in so many different ways, there is no universal definition of drought. Meteorologists monitor the extent and severity of drought in terms of rainfall deficiencies. Agriculturalists rate the impact on primary industries, hydrologists compare ground water levels, and sociologists define it on social expectations and perceptions.”

Reading this closely you will quickly understand that how people use water and their social expectations and perception affect the existence, the length, and the future possibility of a drought. That is the larger picture. The smaller picture is a question of what each person can do to avoid making an uninformed contribution to drought conditions. And let’s face it – avoiding the summer drought in Australia takes real effort!

Creating a Drought

As the Australian government website makes clear, humans can literally create a drought in an area through their actions. That is hard to believe when people are inundated with reports that global warming is to blame for all of the world’s developing water shortages.

But consider this fact. It takes 2.8 tonnes of water to manufacturer one t-shirt made from cotton. To make a kilo of milk takes 4 tonnes of water. These are just two examples of the enormous amount of water it takes to produce just one kilo of commonly used products. Then you can also consider how much water is used, and also wasted, in your home.

Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, and Perth are 4 areas that have a documented trend of decreasing average rainfall and increasing population. The more people there are then obviously the more water will be required. There are efforts being made to develop desalination plants as long-term alternatives but that won’t help you avoid that next summer drought. What can you do then to insure there is enough water available to run your household and also avoid contributing to the development of drought conditions?

No Drought in My Home!

You can install an underground water tank like one of the ones sold by Hidden Tanks. The tanks are custom built tanks that can be designed to hold 20,000 to 200,000 litres of water to be used for your household and landscaping water needs. These activities include the following.

* Lawn and garden watering
* Exterior home washing
* Driveway maintenance
* Auto maintenance
* Pet care
* Small farm needs such as providing water for animal troughs

But there is another aspect to hidden or underground water tanks. Preventing or reducing the severity of a drought means using less water and having a minimum impact on the environment. Hidden Tanks can help you accomplish both goals.

First is the fact you are able to collect rainwater and make good use of it instead of letting it run into stormwater systems. But you can also make a contribution to the environment by NOT impacting it in a negative manner. The underground water tanks are completely hidden except for the access lid. But even that is at ground level and can be covered with grass and soil like the rest of the tank lid.

One of the biggest impacts on water flow is natural and man-made obstructions. Ground erosion can contribute to drought conditions by diverting water in an unnatural manner. There are plenty of yards and gardens that have been inadvertently destroyed because of poor landscaping planning which included the installation of water flow impediments.

When you install a hidden water tank, there are never any worries about creating an unfortunate consequence such as ground erosion. The tanks are completely underground and custom fitted to the size and shape of the area where they are installed.

Environmentally Sound Action

If you want to avoid the inevitable Australian summer drought then installation of a hidden water tank should be the first step. This is how you change your perceptions of water, your impact on the environment, minimize your contribution to the development of drought conditions, and be as prepared as possible for an Australian water shortage.

Drought is a lot more than low rainfall, and that’s precisely why you need to take action and install a rainwater collection system. It is an environmentally sound action any way you look at it.

 Drought Assessment, Management and Planning: Theory and Case Studies

Drought Assessment, Management and Planning: Theory and Case Studies

$219

This book is dedicated to furthering scientific understanding of drought assessment and management and the policy issues associated with drought preparedness worldwide. The authors invited to contribute to the volume are uniquely qualified to address their respective topics. The book is divided into two parts. Part One emphasizes theoretical aspects of drought assessment, management, and preparedness; it also includes a discussion of the concept of drought. These chapters are aimed at improving the reader's understanding and awareness of drought; appropriate technologies to monitor drought's onset, development and termination; emerging methodologies to estimate impacts; adjustment strategies to alleviate drought effects; and a methodology for countries to follow in the development of a national drought policy and plan. Part One concludes with an insightful examination of how changes in climate may alter climatic variability and the frequency and intensity of extreme events, particularly drought. The successes and failures of previous assessment and response efforts are highlighted in Part Two through case studies in Israel, India, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, the United States, and China. Several of these case studies provide insight into the difficulties inherent in the provision of timely and effective drought assistance by government in both a developed and developing country setting. The lessons learned in these instances provide both an extraordinary opportunity and challenge to other drought-prone nations to learn from these experiences and avoid some of the mistakes of the past. Some of the case studies in Part Two illustrate remarkable progress in drought preparedness andare examples for other nations to follow.

 Monitoring and Predicting Agricultural Drought: A Global Study

Monitoring and Predicting Agricultural Drought: A Global Study

$6.4

Agricultural droughts affect whole societies, leading to higher food costs, threatened economies, and even famine. In order to mitigate such effects, researchers must first be able to monitor them, and then predict them; however no book currently focuses on accurate monitoring or prediction of these devastating kinds of droughts. To fill this void, the editors of Monitoring and Predicting Agricultural Drought have assembled a team of expert contributors from all continents to make a global study, describing biometeorological models and monitoring methods for agricultural droughts. These models and methods note the relationships between precipitation, soil moisture, and crop yields, using data gathered from conventional and remote sensing techniques. The coverage of the book includes probabilistic models and techniques used in America, Europe and the former USSR, Africa, Asia, and Australia, and it concludes with coverage of climate change and resultant shifts in agricultural productivity, drought early warning systems, and famine mitigation. This will be an essential collection for those who must advise governments or international organizations on the current scope, likelihood, and impact of agricultural droughts. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) Movie Review

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2009

X-Men Origins: Wolverine tells the tale of Logan (born Jack), as he goes from unsure young boy to the amnesia-stricken killer we meet in the first X-Men. Starting with the discovery of his mutant powers in 1845, Logan (Hugh Jackman) runs off with his brother Victor (Liev Schreiber). Working together as a pair, the two fight in four wars (The Civil War, World War I, World War II, and Vietnam). After Vietnam, the duo are approached by William Stryker (Danny Huston), who invites them to join a secret mutant strike force. When the team begins killing innocent people, Logan abandons them, and his brother Victor. Relocating to the Canadian Rockies, Logan finds love and a simple life, until Victor returns and kills Logan’s girlfriend. Stryker pops out of the woodwork, explaining to Logan that Victor has gone rogue, and offers Logan the chance to make himself indestructible by grafting a metal called adamantium to his bones. Logan agrees, and in the process becomes a new man: Wolverine.

Uranium dating is one of the ways of determining the age of ancient objects, even one million years old, by measuring how much of the following are present in them: the amount of radioactive isotopes of uranium, and the amount of other materials into which the radioactive isotopes would decompose.
